“Check virus protection” warning in Action Center
The “Check virus protection” notification is a warning that Windows Security Center displays when F-PROT needs to restart the F-PROT Service in order to update the virus signatures.
These notifications can be turned off by:
1. Open Control Panel > System and Security > Security and Maintenance > Change Security and Maintenance
2. Uncheck Security messages for Virus Protection and click OK.
* In Windows 10, you can use the Magnifying Glass (Search) in the bottom left corner to search for the Control Panel App.
Please note that there´s also a problem with previous versions of Action Center, where Action Center is not able to verify that F-PROT is turned on, and ´thinks´ F-PROT is registering as both Antivirus AND Antispyware, whereas F-PROT only registers as Antivirus.
These notifications can also be turned off in Action Center.
These messages from Action Center do not indicate that F-PROT Antivirus is turned off (This can be verified by opening F-PROT and checking whether all scanners are turned on).
Microsoft has fixed this issue in Windows 10 (version 1709), so making sure that you have the latest Windows Update should fix the problem.
