Updates hang - potential conflict with Outlook

How do I resolve updates hanging?


This may occur in some scenarios if you have installed the Outlook scanner component with your installation and Outlook is open.  If you close Outlook the update should complete with no further incident.  If the update does not complete please try the following:

Step 1. Stop the update of the definitions

Step 2. Make sure Outlook is closed

Step 3. Attempt to update the definition files
